Art thou Allan?, 1842.

Moir (delta); the song is in 6 numbered stanzas, and seems to be about remembering a friend who travelled to America. A note at the end reads: "The above lines have been arranged by Finlay Dun for a hitherto unpublished Gaelic melody. 1842."

Author and physician David MacBeth Moir was born and raised in Musselburgh, Scotland, and studied to be a doctor at the University of Edinburgh. He returned to Mussleburgh to practice medicine, and began writing both poetry and prose for various periodicals, notably Blackwood's Magazine. He was known as Delta, as he often signed his verse with that Greek letter. He also wrote a history of medicine, and an overview of contemporary poetry.
